Stories @ Foodstory

On Thursday 12th November we will be hosting a stories @ Foodstory night in the cafe with author and friend Liam Murray Bell and local author Wayne Price followed by a Q&A session and book signing.

Acclaimed author Liam will be reading a short extract from his latest book “The Busker”. Split over three cities and two years it is a modern-day ballad which is a spirited expose of the music industry, the Occupy movement, homelessness and squatting as our young artist attempts to survive after his precarious dreams of fame fall apart.

“Plucked from obscurity in Glasgow, Rab Dillon is about to become the next great protest singer. Seduced by promises of stardom, carrying only the guitar given to him by the girl who broke his heart, he travels down to London. There he records the debut album that will speak to the dispossessed, the disenfranchised and disheartened. One year later, he is sleeping rough on the streets of Brighton.”

Author and Poet Wayne Price will be reading from his latest book “Mercy Seat”. It is a compelling story of desire, loss and regret set against the rugged coast of west Wales.

“Luke, a boy on the brink of manhood, drifts to a remote seaside town but can only replace his lonely childhood with responsibilities marriage and fatherhood for which he is perilously unprepared. The arrival of Christine, his wife’s estranged sister, draws Luke into the unspoken, destructive mystery at the heart of the two women’s relationship. As his understanding of himself and others begins to unravel, he must make a choice that will haunt his life forever.”
